so started with carpet cleaning in 1981 and grew to three trucks. then expanded into water/fire damage repair. downsized to O/O carpet cleaning.
was cleaning carpet for an older couple today and just as I was about to leave they asked if I had another job after theirs. I said my neighbors sump pump failed last night (we have had a ton of rain lately) so I was going to help him with that. They responded that they didnt have a sump pump problem but did have a sewer backup a few years back. He said they called a restoration company and they came out and removed the pad, dried the carpet and then cleaned the carpet. (I can imagine what they put into the air with their air movers while they were drying the carpet)
I think I winced at that point knowing the proper way to do it. They have a nice finished basement and it just bothered me that they may be medically affected by this at some point but kept my mouth shut.
Should I have said something or did I do the right thing?
